SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:
"We really want to get our luck turned around this weekend at Talladega. There is no better way to do that than to keep working like we have been and put ourselves in the position for good things to happen. This Valvoline Evernham Racing team has a strong restrictor plate program, despite having missed Daytona. This chassis has a top five and top ten finish this year and we will be looking to better those results this weekend. Its amazing to me that this is my 100th career Nextel Cup start. I have learned so much over that time about these cars and tires but even more so just this season. A lot about the cars is different from the Busch Series. Coming over to Evernham has given me a lot more folks to draw from and now I look forward to my next 100 starts being right here in this No. 10 car."
RODNEY CHILDERS QUOTES:
"We've made tremendous gains in our restrictor plate program since the last time we visited a plate track. Our engine department has really been working hard to gain more power for us on the superspeedways and they have. The dyno results have shown it so we're expecting to be faster this weekend at Talladega."
Scott Riggs will make his 100th career Nextel Cup Series start this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. He has 13 career top-10 finishes and two poles. He has been running at the finish in 83 of the 99 races he's started, has logged over 36,000 miles and posted almost $10 million in winnings over his three-year career. Seven of his 13 career top-10 finishes have come in his No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger for Valvoline Evernham Racing.
Riggs has three top-five and four top-10 starts at Talladega. His best finish in five starts came earlier this season (ninth) in the same Dodge Charger he will bring to the track this weekend
Last weekend, Scott Riggs qualified on the outside pole alongside teammate Kasey Kahne at Kansas, making it a 1-2 start for Evernham Motorsports. Riggs led six laps before an unscheduled stop held him to a 34th-place finish. He has led 96 laps this season.
The DNF at Dover snapped a 25-race string of no DNFs for the No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger this season. Currently only four teams remain that have no DNFs in 2006.
