Richardson Jr. Returns to Front Row for 'Dega
Superspeedway Racer Aims for Top-20 on Favorite Track
Statesville, N.C. (October 26, 2010) - Robert Richardson Jr. will once again wheel around the super-fast Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in a Front Row Motorsports Ford. The quarterback-turned-racer will run his fourth superspeedway race for the team this season when he climbs into the No. 34 A&W All American Food Fusion for this weekend's Amp Energy Juice 500.
Richardson has two previous Sprint Cup starts at the 2.66-mile tri-oval, with a top finish of 18th (October 2009). He finished 26th for Front Row at the track's April event. He also has four Nationwide starts at the famed fast track - all top-20 finishes. Richardson also raced both Sprint Cup events at Daytona International Speedway this year for Front Row.

"I'm pretty excited to get to do the last superspeedway race of the year with Front Row Motorsports. The past couple races we didn't really have the opportunity to show what we really had. We've kind of been in the wrong place at the wrong time. The last time I raced with Front Row, we got caught up in a wreck at Daytona in July. So, I'm looking forward to capitalizing on previous experience at Talladega and having a better run with them this time.
"Talladega has always been one of my favorite racetracks. I've always run well there in the Nationwide Series and in the Cup Series as well. I love the racing surface in general. Since they've resurfaced Talladega, it's been awesome, awesome racing. You can race four-wide pretty much all the way around the entire racetrack, and there's only a few, seldom bumps. So you really don't have to worry as much about your set-up for handling.
"By comparison, when we'd go to Daytona, for example, the track was so rough, you totally had to set up your car based on handling. Whereas Talladega, it's more about how much horsepower you can put underneath the hood. And the past couple restrictor-plate races we've had with Front Row Motorsports, we've had pretty good steam under the hood. So, I'm really looking forward to going back to Talladega. A top-20 finish is one of my goals.
"Now that the Nationwide Series has gone to the new car, the longer wheel base and the somewhat similar body style, they're pretty similar to the Cup car. You can almost start to relate the two together like you used to back in, say, 2007 when the Nationwide and Cup cars had the older-style bodies. Sounds like next year, the Cup Series is going to implement a new nose, more like what the Nationwide car has now. So, we should be able to transfer a lot of the data that you get from the Nationwide car into the Cup Series as well."
