TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

HOW BIG IS THIS WEEKEND FOR YOU WITH REGARD TO 'THE BIG PICTURE?'

"This weekend is big. If we can get through to the end of this thing tomorrow, roll the car back on the trailer with all the fenders on it, it will be huge."

HOW WAS THE FIRST PRACTICE THIS MORNING?

"That's the best practice I remember at Talladega in a while. Nothing too crazy happened around me. I think everybody is so stressed out that they're being really careful. I'm sure it will be a lot crazier tomorrow, but I'll take anything I can get. All I wanted to do today was just get through these two practices."

WITH STARTING THIRD TOMORROW, WILL YOU TRY TO STAY THERE INSTEAD OF HANGING OUT IN THE BACK, AS MANY DRIVERS MAY DO?

"We'll just see. We'll have to see where we're at. If everything starts out good enough and we can stay up there, then we'll stay up there. If we can't stay up there and we get stuck in the middle we might go to the back. You just don't know. I think you'll play it a lot by ear. I don't know if the race will be packed up tight or if there will be different groups of cars out there. If there are different groups of cars, then we might want to stay to the front. I think a lot of it we'll just have to play it by ear and see how it goes."
