Talladega, AL, (October 30, 2010) - Chad McCumbee qualified the TRG Motorsports No. 71 ModSpace Chevrolet Impala SS in the 22nd position for tomorrow's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) AMP Energy Juice 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Chad McCumbee McCumbee put in an excellent qualifying run and will start from the 11th row when the green drops at 1:00 p.m. ET tomorrow. Going off 18th for this morning's qualifying session, the Supply, North Carolina resident posted a time of 52.374 and a speed of 183 mph in the No. 71 ModSpace Chevy impressing everyone in the garage area.

The 26-year old has gotten up to speed quickly in what will be his first NSCS start at a restrictor plate track. In yesterday's final practice he finished the day 22nd on the timing sheet. With practice speeds for the top cars exceeding 200 mph Sunday's race should prove to be very exciting.

"In practice I wanted to learn these race cars," McCumbee said. "I've been around here in the trucks, the Nationwide and the ARCA cars. The biggest difference is that you can do so much with these cars in the draft than I ever anticipated. This is totally different. I tried to gather as much information as I could and simulate what I was going to see in the race on Sunday. All of these guys are so good. They all go about their practice routine similar and are all after the same objective. I thought our day of practice went really well. I felt a lot more comfortable and I was learning some things that will be beneficial for the race."

McCumbee qualified the car without doing any single car runs in practice.

"Today so far has been a heck of a bonus. We didn't do any single car runs yesterday, so we had no idea where we were going to end up. I just concentrated on hitting my line, holding the thing straight while keeping the pedal to the floor. The TRG guys have done a great job on the car this weekend."

Race goal for McCumbee will be to take the checkered flag.

"The very first goal is to finish the race. Sometimes you go in thinking that and it can mess you up. If we can take the checker we will get a good finish. We will start 22nd and see what the race brings."

Team owner Kevin Buckler is pleased with McCumbee's approach and the work of the team.

"Great weekend - so far," Buckler said. "Chad has taken a really mature approach to the weekend. He did a nice job in practice yesterday and handled drafting really well. In qualifying he really hit his marks and was rewarded with a strong 11th row starting position. The speed of the car really comes from the work at the shop leading up to this race. It is the small stuff and the guys have put a good car under Chad for this weekend. We have a great contingent of folks here from ModSpace this weekend and we are looking forward to giving them a good Talladega experience and a strong finish."
