ON THE RACE:

"We had some bad luck today, but everybody has had some, I think. Nobody has come through the Chase so far without some bad luck. We positioned ourselves pretty well and were sitting there running fifth and cut a tire. So we had a bit of bad luck. But again, I thought we did a nice job today and that's all you can do is do your job. Sometimes things work out for you and sometimes they don't and today things just didn't work out."

YOUR SITTING THERE WITH ALL THE QUESTIONS, ABOUT GOING OR NOT COMING IN AND YOU AND SCOTT WERE TALKING ABOUT TIRES, YOU COULD HAVE COME IN AND CHANGED TIRES, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE FLAT, BUT THEN YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU WERE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC. THERE IS NO WAY YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN BACK UP THERE, RIGHT?

"All we were going to do was get gas anyway. We weren't going to put tires on. I told Scott that if we did worry about green-white-checkered, we'd never get back to the front because it got to be the top and the middle lane and that's the only things that would go. So I was terrified about never being able to get back up there. Sure enough, I think that's the way it would have worked out. Had we done that, it wouldn't have mattered because we weren't going to change tires anyway."

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT BUMP-DRAFTING? HOW SEVERE WAS IT WHEN JEFF GORDON CAME OFF EARLY, HE SAID IT WAS JUST CRAZY OUT THERE.

"I was actually thinking it was way less crazy than normal. I didn't get hit that much. I thought the bump-drafting was well within check. I didn't see what happened. I just saw a replay of that last wreck and I didn't see any of the other wrecks. I didn't think the bump-drafting was out of control by any means. I thought it was well with
