JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Dodge Charger) Finished 2nd
"I thought it was a pretty good race. Our Wrigley's Dodge was pretty good all day. It was pretty hard because so many people were checking down the straights pretty hard.
"I fell back to 20th place with about 15 laps to go and made a couple of moves that took me all the way to the front. I really helped Kyle (Busch). When you could get into someone's bumper, you could push him all the way around the lap and make up a bunch a ground. It was good and I got up to second and then dropped to fifth and got up to second again. It was pretty cool and interesting race.
"I've loved restrictor plate racing since the first time I came to Talladega, I loved it. The bumping, it's tough; because of the good result today, you can finish 20th in a heartbeat for 30th. It's pretty exciting because it takes a lot of strategy and you always have to learn to pick the right lane, and when you pick the lane, you make sure you get enough shock to make sure the line moves, and the problem is there's people that you bump when they brake because they don't want to -- and they break and the cars behind had enough momentum that you start sucking up and it's pretty hard."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) Finished 8th
"We had a good car. We had a car capable of running in the top five and got an eighth out of it. That's not so horrible, not the results we wanted, but we'll take it. It was a good point's day for us."
ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 RV's.com Dodge Charger) Finished 11th
"I'm happy. I thought we had a pretty good day with our RV's.com Dodge. We were up early and drove into the top 15 but then we got shuffled back. I had one really bad pit stop and lost a lap. We got lucky when we got the Lucky Dog later and got on the lead lap again. I'll take an 11th-place finish considering not being in the car for qualifying and practice."
DAVID STREMME (No. 40 Tums Quik Pack Dodge Charger) Finished 28th
"It's disappointing, but I had fun today. We ran well. There's not much we can do. I ended up in a bad position at the end; I was left hanging out of the draft. When everything started, I had no place to go. Considering everything, we were there at the end with a chance for a good finish."
RODNEY CHILDERS (Crew Chief, No. 19 GARMIN/Best Buy Dodge Charger) Finished 29th
"The Garmin/Best Buy Dodge Charger was good all day. The guys did a real good job in the pits. We just had a deal there in the end of the race where the 24 hit us wrong in the back and about wrecked us both. It got us out of line and shuffled us to the back. There was just a lot going on back there. We had a real good car in Phoenix so were going to take that same car to Richmond and try at it again."
BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger) Finished 34th
"We rode around in the back most of the day. It's just really weird. We lost the draft by virtue of just not going fast enough. I never saw the big draft 80 percent of the day and when I got in it (draft), trouble happened I guess."
SAM HORNISH JR. (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) Finished 35th
"We had a vibration and decided to change the left side tires. By doing that, we ran the right side too long. We still were in pretty good position, but had some kind of a problem with the engine. I'm not really sure what happened, but we were running on seven cylinders at the end trying to get every position we could. It definitely could have been a better day for us."
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Finished 39th
"We just got caught up in a wreck in front of us. There really wasn't anything that I could do to avoid it. It's disappointing. We fought a vibration on the Miller Lite Dodge around lap 45 and never seem to have the power we needed all day. We caught a break and got the Lucky Dog to get us back on the lead lap, but the wreck ended our day."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Polaroid Dodge Charger) Finished 43rd
"A tough deal for our Polaroid Dodge Charger. We had a good car coming into today and had a lot of confidence with how we ran in Daytona. It looks like we may have hurt a piston in the motor. I was just getting settled in and all of a sudden the motor went away. It's just weird deal because we usually won't hurt these restrictor plate motors. It stinks for the points. Just more bad luck for us."
