Tony Stewart will be the cover boy for the 2014 NASCAR game.
Despite spending a good chunk of this season with a cast on his leg on the couch at home, Tony Stewart will be the driver to be on the cover of the NASCAR ’14 video game.
After his sprint car accident in August, the World Wide Web was awash with the #SmokeWillRise hashtag, showing support for the laid up driver.
The social media support didn’t stop there, as a social media campaign called the “Drive to the cover” saw Stewart dominate all five rounds of the bracket style contest, decided by fan engagement.
In the final round Stewart took home 69% of the votes over Jeff Gordon to be named ‘coverboy’ for the 2014 video game.
Stewart defeated Paul Menard in the first round, eliminated his team mate Danica Patrick in the second. Stewart then dispatched of Matt Kenseth to head to the final round.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. appeared on the cover last year, and was ineligible to be included in this years voting.
