Stewart, an Indiana native and resident of Columbus, Ind., passed and then held off Kasey Kahne for his first victory at his beloved IMS in any type of car. Stewart has made seven Allstate 400 at the Brickyard starts and five Indianapolis 500 starts.

After the race, Stewart took a memorable victory lap around the historic 2.5-mile oval, stopping next to the SAFER Barrier in Turn 2 to celebrate with friends and family in the adjacent suites. Stewart and the Home Depot Chevrolet crew also climbed the catch fence adjacent to the famous Yard of Bricks at the start-finish line in triumph.

Two-time NASCAR champion Stewart accepted the Most Dramatic Moment Award during the annual NASCAR banquet Dec. 2 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.

"This is pretty cool," Stewart said. "Obviously, everybody knows how much winning at the Brickyard this year meant to me.

"But this is great. To have the fans vote on this is a great honor, and it's neat to know that the fans appreciate the greatest day of my life as much as I did so I appreciate it."

Stewart collected $6,173,633 in awards at the annual NASCAR banquet Dec. 2. Combined with race earnings and season contingency awards, Stewart won a record $13,678,168 this season.
