Sonoma, CA 21 June, 2010- AJ Allmendinger's run to 13th place in the No. 43 Insignia HDTV/Best Buy Ford in Sunday's Toyota/SaveMart 350 marked the Richard Petty Motorsports driver's fifth consecutive top-15 finish in NASCAR Sprint Cup competition as the season hits its stride.

The fourth-year NASCAR racer has been busy of late, showing well in dirt competition at the Prelude to the Dream ahead of making a winning debut outing in Modified half-mile paved oval competition last week.

At Infineon Raceway, Allmendinger's day was not without some unlucky setbacks with some contact and a late-race pit road speeding infraction, but despite taking the green flag as far deep as 33rd in the pack, Allmendinger fought back to move up to 13th at the finish.

"We've been fighting forward bite all weekend with the Insignia HDTV/Best Buy Ford. We were struggling with that," said AJ. "There were times we got it pretty good and then there were other times we struggled a little bit, but, overall, I felt like we made improvements from the start of the weekend until the end. I'm proud of this No. 43 team. I felt like we could have had a top-10 finish if we could get a little track position, but we got another top-15 finish so we'll take that and keep getting better."

A pair of tough-luck finishes of 38th (Martinsville) and 37th (Darlington) slowed AJ's pace in the championship standings, but the consistent form of finishes going back to his run to 14th at Dover have Allmendinger just 80 points back from 16th in the standings.

"It is great to have this kind of consistency with the results, and we saw yesterday how easy it can be to get caught up in someone else's problem and have a really bad points day," said AJ as he prepared for an exclusive outing in Seattle with personal sponsor actiVwater. "We have to keep moving up in the points because I really don't think where we are right now (22nd) shows what this team is capable of. We just keep working to be there fighting for top-15's or top-10's every week, and you have to have that to move up in the points. Hopefully we can just keep improving and have a good strong run in the points in the second half of the season."
