Skinner To Return For Michigan

Thomas Chemris

Pocono, PA.

Injured RCR driver Mike Skinner will return to the Lowes Home Improvement Chevrolet the weekend of August 17th at Michigan International Speedway.

Skinner, who fractured his ankle in a fiery crash at the Chicago Land Speedway, has been recovering from surgery.

"I'm feeling a lot better and I'm getting better each day. The fractured Ankle that I had surgery for is the only injury that is keeping me out of the Lowes Chevrolet".

Skinners clarification is two fold.

This is not the first time that Skinner has been plagued by injuries in his career.

He has had recurring Knee problems since he tore his ACL in his left Knee in Texas in 1998.

The second reason for the clarification is that Skinner has been at the heart of the silly season rumor mill, placing him out of the car, and out of a ride,

"As far as I know, Richard and I are planning to make a decision about 2002 season within the next few weeks. I think Richard is trying really hard to make it work between the two of us. Richard is in the racing business and whether he wants me to drive the Lowes Chevrolet or not, he has to have a sponsor's support for me as a driver."

Robby Gordon has been piloting the ride on a week-to-week basis, finishing 25th and 28th in the last two events
