O'Reilly Auto Parts Establishes NASCAR Contingency Award; Fastest Lap Time and Lowest Cumulative Pit Stop Time Will Win Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2009) -- O'Reilly Auto Parts, the official auto parts store of NASCAR, will sponsor a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) and a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) contingency special award this season.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts "People, Service and Performance" award recognizes the team effort made both on the track and in the pits. The NSCS and NCWTS driver who records the fastest lap time and lowest cumulative pit stop time of the event will be the award winner. In order to be eligible, the driver must finish the race on the lead lap. In the event of a tie, the award will be presented to the driver with the highest finishing position in the event.

The winning NSCS team will receive a $5,000 check each race and the team which wins the most awards during the course of the season will be awarded with a $100,000 year-end bonus. The winning NCWTS team will receive a $1,000 check each race and the team which wins the most awards during the course of the season will be awarded with a $10,000 year-end bonus.

O'Reilly became an exclusive NASCAR partner in a multi-year agreement announced in November. The auto parts chain is currently the title sponsor of five NASCAR events in 2009: the O'Reilly 300 and O'Reilly Challenge NASCAR Nationwide Series races both held at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Tex. on April 4 and Nov. 7 respectively; the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on November 15, and the two races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 race at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City on April 25 and the O'Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 19.

"We are excited to grow our relationship with NASCAR to this new level," said Greg Henslee, O'Reilly Auto Parts CEO and Co-President. "Becoming the Official Auto Parts Store of NASCAR is a unique opportunity to deepen our connection with loyal race fans, build the O'Reilly brand and continue our support of motorsports from local grassroots up to the national stage."

"When O'Reilly became the Official Auto Parts Store of NASCAR it came hand-in-hand with a NASCAR Contingency Program platform," said Odis Lloyd, managing director of the NASCAR Automotive Group. "This weekly and year-end award recognizes two critical attributes of our sport -- teamwork and performance, the same qualities O'Reilly Auto Parts has developed to become one of the best run companies in the automotive industry."

NASCAR is one of the few professional sports leagues that have created an automotive-specific marketing program for its family of automotive sponsors. The platform, branded as NASCAR Performance, includes exclusive marketing rights, the ability to co-brand products and product packaging as well as involvement in a long list of integrated media programs.
