SADLER LOOKS FOR TOP-10 SUCCESS AT SONOMA
CHARLOTTE, NC (June 20, 2006) -- This weekend the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series heads to Infineon Raceway for the first road course race of the 2006 season. While Elliott Sadler, driver of the #38 Ford Fusion, does not post road course "ace" at the top of his resume, the Virginia native has definitely had his fair share of success at the Sonoma based track. In three of his last four visits, Sadler has finished in the top-10 three times including a pair of sixth place finishes.
Sadler looks to turn his season into the "right" direction by returning to the top-10 once again at Sonoma. Instead of the trusty M&M'S Characters riding along on Sadler's #38, this weekend he has some new friends, man's best friend that is on his Ford Fusion to spotlight The PEDIGREE® Adoption Drive. This is the second annual drive that PEDIGREE® has spearheaded, a multi-million dollar, cause-related campaign that rallies dog lovers to help the millions of homeless dogs in shelters and breeds rescue organizations throughout the United States.
In fact, Pedigree® has a goal to raise $1 million to donate to shelters and breed rescue organizations around the country. For every PEDIGREE® Brand product purchased, PEDIGREE® will donate a portion of sales to the cause.
Quoting PEDIGREE® Driver Elliott Sadler:
"We are looking forward to heading back to Sonoma. It's been a track where I've had some success over the past three or four years. It seems like our finishes have been better than our starting position. I've started in the back here a couple times after some troubles in qualifying but it's when I have started in the back that I've finished my best. Hopefully this week I can keep it on track all weekend, because just being really smooth and consistent here is the key. Pit strategy has always played a big part for us in this race so hopefully our team will be up to the challenge on Sunday."
On The PEDIGREE® Adoption Drive
"Pretty much everyone in the garage knows how much I love dogs. I've told the story so many times about the dogs my dad and I raise back in Emporia so it's great to be able to be a part of The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive. I tell people that I'm not married and I don't have any kids so my dogs at home at my kids. I miss them when I am on the road and I love to get to go home and spend time with them."
"There are so many great dogs at shelters that deserve a great home. I have over 30 dogs back home and they are all happy and healthy Pedigree fed dogs so it's feels great to be a part of this cause and paint scheme this weekend."
