ROUSH RACING QUOTES WEEK OF JUNE 13, 2005

TOPIC: Last weekend in Pocono, a new rules package eliminated shifting on the unique 2.5-mile track.

We asked our drivers what they thought of the new procedures:

Mark Martin, No. 6 Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) Ford Taurus:

"Not shifting at Pocono was fine we me. You could really concentrate on the race more and not worrying about shifting and running those high RPM's wondering if the engine would be able to hold up to all the pressure."

Matt Kenseth, No. 17 DEWALT Ford Taurus:

"I noticed that passing was difficult at Pocono - it was hard to get off the corner and get a run on anyone."

Kurt Busch, No. 97 Sharpie / IRWIN Industrial Tools Ford Taurus:

"It seemed to give the cars more durability throughout the race in not stressing the engines or transmissions, which is definitely a NASCAR concern to lower the rising costs involved with running a NEXTEL Cup team. It made for a different challenge in setting up the car, so the old notebooks from past races at Pocono can pretty much go out the window."

Carl Edwards, No. 99 Stonebridge Life Ford Taurus:

"I think not shifting helped me a little bit. I think the biggest help, though, was my crew. They dropped the jack after that first pit stop and we pulled out and passed three or four people on pit road. I thought, 'Wow, if we have a day like this on pit road the whole day, we're going to win this race.' That's the way it worked."
