Roush Fenway looks for continued success at Homestead finale

The 2012 NASCAR season comes to an official close this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway where Roush Fenway Racing hopes to amplify its rich history of racing at the 1.5-mile oval. RFR chalked up its first victory at HMS in the 1998 NASCAR Nationwide Series with Jeff Burton and achieved its first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win in 2002 when Kurt Busch won from the pole. That same weekend, Greg Biffle earned RFR its first NNS Championship.

Since then, RFR has amassed a wealth of success with 10 wins, 41 top-five and 54 top-10 finishes in 130 starts across three of NASCAR’s top divisions. In addition, RFR is ranked first among teams in the NSCS with seven wins since HMS hosted its first Cup race 14 years ago. Roush Fenway ranks first at HMS claiming seven Cup victories. Much of RFR’s winning success in the NSCS at HMS can be attributed to its current roster of full-time Cup drivers Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth. Of the eight drivers who have won a Cup race at HMS, Edwards, Biffle and Kenseth have all made the drive into Victory Lane. Biffle leads the way with an impressive three wins which he accumulated in a dominant three-year run from 2004 to 2006. In addition, Biffle is also tied for first place for the most number of wins in the NSCS at HMS. Each of these drivers also rank within the top 10 in driver ratings at HMS over the past seven years with Edwards leading the way. Kenseth also holds a track record for most laps led by race winner with 214 which he achieved back in 2007.

NNS championship driver and 2010 Rookie of the Year, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., has also made a foot print at HMS with two top-five finishes in his two starts there. In addition, Stenhouse averages a third-place finishing position and ranks within the top five driver ratings at HMS. Stenhouse comes into HMS in an advantageous position in the Nationwide standings with a 20-point lead. Stenhouse and the No. 6 team are looking to repeat history this Saturday with back-to-back NNS Championships joining the elite ranks of five drivers to accomplish the feat.
