HANK PARKER JR. (No. 91 USG Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"It's an awesome feeling. To come here and be with a team like this -- some people are looking at you with high expectations. And to be able to make the race is just a big accomplishment for me and for us. Sammy Johns and the guys did a great job tuning the car. Ray Evernham was nice enough to let me have this opportunity and with USG and Dodge they made it all happen.
"I'm not going to lie to you - it was loose and a little scary. I didn't think it was going to be fast, but it was OK. Believe it or not, I wasn't nervous until it (qualifying lap) was over.
"I dreamed of this day millions of times. I'm just going to go and have a good time and have a lot of fun. The pressure of getting into the race is over, and I feel like if I can get some experience from being around these guys I should be in good shape."
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"Any time you gain a little bit you're going in the right direction. Going out early you don't really know where you stand. We gave it our best shot, so wherever we end up we'll take it and get ready to race in practice tomorrow."
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We haven't been able to fix it, and it was way too loose. We picked up a little from practice and we'll just work on it some more tomorrow."
GREG BIFFLE (No. 44 Georgia Pacific/Brawny Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We made some adjustments on the car for qualifying. I'm pretty happy with the lap. I'm always the guy who criticizes myself. We missed a little here and a little there. Everybody has been faster on their second lap, and I think we could have been a half a tenth better but I overdrove in three and four and we'll just have to live with it. We got in the field and we're excited about that."
KENNY WALLACE (No. 23 Hills Bros Coffee Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The communication level is getting there with the team, and that helped today. We weren't afraid to adjust. We worked hard and it paid off, so we'll just keep digging."
JIMMY SPENCER (No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We thought we had a shot at the pole, but the car just jumped out and got loose on the second lap. We got real loose off turn four and it cost us two or three tenths. The first lap counted, but the second lap had been faster for everybody. The car just got a little free coming up off and we ended up with an .87. I really felt like we had an opportunity to be on the pole."
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"It was all right. The car was real tight, and we couldn't get any grip in the right front. It pushed up the track in one and two. This is usually a good race track for me. I'm trying as hard as I can every week, and I hate all that is going on. I'm just glad to be here and try my best. I love this track. It's always been one of my favorites. I learned a lot here. I've got a lot of laps around this track, and I've tested here just about every year until this year. I feel like I've got more experience here than anywhere else."
JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We're happy with that. That's about what we ran in practice. We tried to pick up a little bit, but we got a little loose off turn two. We're real happy with the team. We're working hard to get this team going in the right direction, and we feel like we've got a good car here."
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"That was a good lap. We never got it where we needed it in practice. We kept changing shocks and springs and I think the combination we used in qualifying worked good. We were faster than practice, and I think the combination was better. As soon as Jerry Nadeau's accident happened, we tried to get Greg Biffle. We couldn't get him in Atlanta because he was already scheduled to run the Grainger car. Ted Musgrave did a great job for us there. Biffle was a logical choice here because of the Busch stuff, and Jack Roush didn't have a problem with it. I'd like to run him at Homestead, so we'll figure it out after Sunday's race."
