JOHN FERNANDEZ (Director, Dodge Motorsports Operations)
"I've got mixed emotions right now. We didn't win the race, but we were good with all of our cars out there today. I thought Kasey Kahne did one fantastic job for his second race. That's as close as it comes. We had a lot of good Dodges up there all day long, so it was a good points day for our teams. I'm looking forward to Las Vegas. I didn't understand the scoring there at the end. I'm not sure what happened."
STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge) -- Finished Fourth
"We had a good car. It was just too tight the first 20 laps of the run. They could really get away from us. From 20-40 we were even and after that we had a good car. We were probably 10th best. I think Jamie got a raw deal, and I think we did, too. I'm not sure how it all worked out. They haven't told me nothing."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge) -- Finished Sixth
"It was a pretty good day as far as the finishing results. We struggled a little bit with one pit stop and that set us back. The car was a little too tight getting in and a little loose off, but it was a good finish for us, especially the way we ran at Daytona. We picked up from where we started off in the first two races last year. We've improved, just not the total improvement we're looking for. When you've got that much horsepower (17 car), plus considering how good it was going into the corners, he's bound to run good. He knows how to get around this place. I don't know if he's got more horsepower than we've got, but I know he's definitely got more than he had last year."
RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge) -- Finished Seventh
"That was a real nice run. I was happy with it. It was slipping and sliding all over the race track, but it was fast, too. Everything was good. My guys had some fast pit stops today. Right when it counted they had a problem in the pit and it just killed me. We lost four or five positions and got me back in the pack. When you get back in the pack in the outside lane and all those cars lined up to the inside you just can't get back up there. My biggest race of the day was with my teammate there at the end with seven or eight laps to go. He got around me and then I was catching him. I thought I easily had a top-three car. I ran second most of the day, but that's racing.
"We started two bullets today. A couple of times today we were getting ready to hit pit road and the caution flew. It's amazing. We got lucky today with the pit calls. Larry and the guys did a great job, but it was a big guess when to hit pit road. When I saw all those guys hitting pit road and putting fresh tires on, it was just a matter of time for us because we were going to be in big trouble if we didn't do it soon.
"Last year our car was a little faster in the first half of the race, but this car was more of a solid car. It was with me most of the day. It was too loose in some spots and tight in other spots. We'll get back and do some homework and see what we need to do."
JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge) -- Finished 11th
"We went to the back three or four times and got back up there. It was a good car all day. Kasey ran good all day. We overcame a lot and that's all we could ask for. We were running a little hot at first. We had to come back in and put some water in. We had some problems in the pits, but we had to come back in and work on it anyway. Overall, it was a good day. It could have been a lot worse considering the circumstances. Kasey did good. I wish we could have been up there with him. They're awesome. That's the team that won here in November, and Kasey kept it going today. We're ready to tackle Las Vegas now."
BRENDAN GAUGHAN (No. 77 Kodak Easy Share Dodge) -- Finished 20th
"We came here with better expectations than where we finished. Something happened at the start of the race, but the guys worked hard and we had some great pit stops. Those guys bailed us out a bunch. We were going to be the lucky dog for awhile, but it never worked for us. It was a long day, but we worked hard and kept plugging. It came home in one piece. Those rookies are looking good. We've had rookies finish second and third in Dodges in the first two races. Maybe it'll be my time to be the top rookie when we go to Vegas. That'd be awesome."
