BOBBY LABONTE (No. 18 Interstate Batteries Pontiac Grand Prix): "I'm not sure why I'm here (in victory lane). This award is for all the guys. The pit crew does a great job week in and week out. Jeff Chandler and his guys are just a special group of guys. They work on the cars during the week and do the pit stops on the weekend. They work real hard at it. Our stops on Sunday are just always consistent and they get us out of the pits without losing anything. These guys are awfully excited about it. Everybody works hard for this and this is a time for the pit crews to shine. They did it today. Again, I just can't thank these guys enough. They put this deal together a couple of years ago to do a couple of different things and everybody just does a really good job at it. Week in and week out these guys make us look good on Sundays because they get us in and out of the pits real fast. They deserve all the credit."
JIMMY MAKAR, crew chief (No. 18 Interstate Batteries Pontiac Grand Prix): "This is one day where the pit crew gets all the focus of attention. It's hard to have a perfect pit stop when you're under the gun. To me, that's what they do every week on five or six stops. They gain us positions during the race and prevent us from losing positions. That's the real key. They get overlooked on how important they are at every event. They've done well all year. It seems like they've stepped up a little everywhere we go. They get better and better. They work really hard and work out in the shop, trying to get better. They have practice a lot, trying to think of ways to make the pit stop faster. Jeff (Chandler) heads up the pit crew practices and all and what they're going to do. I don't do anything. Those guys work real hard on their own. I've got to congratulate all these guys and especially Jeff Chandler. He heads up all our pit crews at Joe Gibbs Racing. These guys work hard every day, every week really. the know how important pit stops are during the course of a race. This is just an opportunity for them to showcase to everybody how good they really are. This was their day here today."
