KENNY WALLACE, NO. 27 GEICO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (25th):

ON HIS RUN EARLY IN THE QUALIFYING SESSION

"The track seemed a little different to me. It's a little hotter and I think my car was tighter. But, more important than that - I'm just really happy to have Geico on board as a sponsor. Hopefully we'll run good for them."

KEN SCHRADER, NO. 36 M&M'S PONTIAC GRAND PRIX 21st):

"We're just kind of so-so. Where we lost time was right there [coming out
of four], which is the only place we've struggled in practice. We've just
been a little loose. Not quite as loose as -- say Rick Mast - but, we've
felt similar to that. That qualifying lap - I hit it, except for right
there. It just got looser than I wanted it to get."

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT RUNNING 'HAPPY HOUR' TODAY?

"I think it's wonderful. Number one, the race practice is a lot closer to the time of our race. I think that's real good."

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (7th):

ON YOUR LAP

"It was a pretty good lap. I was kind of concerned with a couple cars spinning and everything. I didn't know what kind of conditions we had."

HOW DID YOU FIND MORE SPEED ON YOUR SECOND LAP?

"I just tried to find a spot on the racetrack that wasn't as slick as what we had in practice. It was definitely a little bit slicker. We just wanted something in the top 10. That will get us a good pit selection.

"I think we've got a really good race car. I've been really happy with it since we came off the truck today. Every time the guys have made a small change today it's made a big difference on the racetrack with the way the car has driven. It gives me a really, really good feeling. I was smiling after the first [practice] run knowing that we've got a car that is driving really well, that feels really balanced and is really going to race well. I've got a lot of confidence in it right now."

BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (9th):

ON RUNNING THE FIRST NIGHT RACE OF THE SEASON

"This is a great track to have a night race. It's a lot of fun to run on. Usually the groove moves up to where you've got two or three grooves during the race. It's cool to be able to move around on the racetrack during the race to find yourself a different groove."

WHICH WOULD YOU LIKE BETTER: RUNNING 'HAPPY HOUR' TODAY, CLOSER TO THE TIME OF DAY THAT THE RACE IS HELD, OR PRACTICING TOMORROW, AFTER TONIGHT'S BUSCH RACE?

"For this race here, I probably like doing it today rather than after the Busch race. Some races are different. But this one here, I'd rather have some night practice than to not have any night practice and then race at night. I think this is good, but maybe what it should be is to have practice tonight and then maybe have 'Happy Hour' tomorrow."

BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

"Some guys are going to want to run, some guys are not going to run. You might want to put a race motor in and make sure it's cleaned out to make sure nothing goes wrong with it. Right now we don't have time for that. But this is not too bad."

JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (11th): "That was about as exciting as you're going to get - especially with a new sealer [on the track}. I think that was OK for us. We're happy with that. Now we'll just see what happens."

HOW ABOUT QUALIFYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY HERE?

"It's tough. We thought that maybe we could run a pretty good lap, but everybody was wrecking and spinning - not that I took a conservative approach because that's not the case. I just had to make sure I didn't slip the wheels bad and take any chance of wrecking the Valvoline Pontiac. We just wanted to run a good, smooth, clean consistent lap, knowing that sometimes that is not a bad deal to do. Actually sometimes that will be faster than a 'banzai' run."

WILL YOU HAVE TO CHASE THE TRACK A LOT TOMORROW NIGHT?

"You will. That is something that you always do here. But I think as the Busch race runs tonight and they knock the sealer off of here, I think it will be a little bit better and little bit more consistent tomorrow."
