"ONE LAST RACE TO MAKE THE CHASE" FOR SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE
America's Premier Short Track will again host two NASCAR Doubleheader Weekends -- April 30 -- May 1 and September 10 - 1
Richmond, VA (September 16, 2009)--NASCAR revealed its 2010 schedules yesterday and Richmond International Raceway officials are proud to announce America's Premier Short Track will host two doubleheader weekends in 2010, including the Spring season opener, as well as "One Last Race to Make the Chase" in September. And for the seventh consecutive year, the September NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race -- scheduled for Saturday, September 11 -- will set the field for next year's Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
In addition to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races scheduled for Saturday, May 1 and Saturday, September 11, the NASCAR Nationwide Series will also return to Richmond International Raceway in 2010, on Friday, April 30 and Friday, September 10.
"We are thrilled to host two doubleheader weekends again in 2010, including our May season opener and the September 'One Last Race to Make the Chase' for the seventh consecutive season," said track president Doug Fritz. "Richmond International Raceway is a favorite among drivers, crew chiefs, teams, NASCAR insiders and fans across the world. By hosting the prestigious 26th race again in 2010, America's Premier Short Track further maintains its position as one of the best motorsports facilities in the world. Additionally, we are excited to again host the NASCAR Nationwide Series on April 30 and September 10."
NASCAR will make its 2010 debut at Richmond International Raceway on Friday, April 30 when the NASCAR Nationwide Series runs "under the lights" and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runs the Crown Royal 400 on Saturday, May 1. Both Series will return to Richmond International Raceway for the September 10-11 NASCAR Doubleheader weekend highlighted by "One Last Race to Make the Chase."
Tickets for the May NASCAR Doubleheader weekend at Richmond International Raceway will go on sale to the general public in January 2010. Existing ticket holders should keep an eye on their mailboxes for renewal notices in the coming weeks.
