"I feel like we just lost a little bit of grip on the racetrack from practice to qualifying. But, the guys did a great job today. We were fifth fastest in practice. The car was handling really good. I was really happy with it. We've had a lot of fun."
JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We're happy with that. The Valvoline Pontiac is running pretty good. We feel like it will be pretty good in the long runs, so I'm looking forward to the race itself."
ON HAVING A GOOD CAR HERE TWICE THIS YEAR: "There is a certain thing that I like in a car up here that works very well. We ran practice here in the spring and the car was very good. It was unfortunate that I didn't get to race it. But, Joe Nemechek jumped right in there and did a tremendous job for us. At first he was like, 'This is very different.' But, I think after he got a good handle on what the feel was and what was going on, he actually liked it to race with. It's something that we've always had a pretty good handle on here. James [Ince] has done a tremendous job. It's just something that I like and it's worked good for us."
WHAT WILL IT MEAN TO GET TO RACE HERE THIS TIME WITH SUCH A GOOD CAR?) "Well, I'm not running the Busch race, for one thing. Maybe, I won't even use any steps or anything this weekend, either, just to make sure. I'm looking forward to the race, no doubt. It was unfortunate last time. But, running the Whelan Busch car was a benefit for us in the sense that it helped us with our Valvoline Pontiac here and I think that is one of the reasons that we had a good car. We pretty much put this car back to where we had it in the spring - a couple little changes, just because you have to, and there are a couple little things that I think we got on that are a little better. Hopefully, it will help us run a little bit better tomorrow night."
KEN SCHRADER, NO. 36 M&M'S PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We were 29th or something in practice. But, we had a flat (tire) in practice and had to put on 'set 2' (second set of tires) early, before we had the car like we wanted. So, we anticipated it getting better. We had a decent draw, too. I'll be able to see who is starting up front.
"We didn't unload as good as we wanted, but worked on it and got it there, so we're pretty excited."
