Allmendinger Third on Richmond Grid

10 September 2010 (Charlotte, NC)-- After his guy Farvre opened the year on the wrong side of the win/lose column, AJ Allmendinger shrugged off a disappointing start to the NFL season with a strong run in qualifying on Friday as he put the No. 43 Insignia HDTV/Best Buy Ford Fusion third on the grid for Saturday's Air Guard 400 with a fast lap time of 127.101 mph.

The qualifying result marks the best grid spot for the No. 43 since Allmendinger took the pole position earlier this year in Phoenix, and he'll look to convert the starting spot into yet another top ten finish on Saturday night.

"It's a tough race track for me; I'm always struggling here a little bit," said AJ. "I felt like we had a good practice, and was just hoping we could back that up. It's important to start up front here and we've done that. We have a good chance to be the best we've ever been here and I'm not going to lie-I'm pretty excited about that. If I keep smooth and my crew delivers another race like last weekend, we can bring home a top-10 for the 43 Insignia Ford."
