BRIAN VICKERS, NO. 25 GMAC MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 4TH

"The GMAC car was really good in race trim in practice. The guys did a good job. Lance (McGrew, crew chief) did a good job. We came here and tested. This is actually our back up car but we're real happy with it the second day. The car was a little too loose for qualifying. It may still be good enough for the pole but I'm still really looking forward to tomorrow night. It was just right and free all the way through there and I think it will be good for the race."

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE'S MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 5TH

"It was a good lap for us. We were a little bit too loose on that lap but all in all a great effort. It's probably one of the best cars I've ever had here. In practice I had a really good time on the track. I was able to really drive where I wanted to and race other cars and run side-by-side. I think tomorrow night the Lowe's team is going to be in great shape. We've been working hard on our mile and under tracks and hopefully we'll be able to show that off tomorrow night."

DENNY HAMLIN, NO. 11 FEDEX MONTE CARLO SS - Highest qualifying Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender - QUALIFIED 7TH

"It was a pretty good run. We just got the car too tight. I felt like we had a top-three or so car in qualifying. We just didn't pick up as much as the other guys did. We fell a little bit short."

HOW'S YOUR HAND AND WILL IT AFFECT YOU AT ALL IN THE RACE? "It's stinging really bad right now. We just got it re-bandaged. Honestly I'm glad this rain is coming because I need to get it redone."

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 GM GOODWRENCH MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 8TH

"It's been a great day. I'm glad to be all signed and all the rumors and all the stuff that has been talked about is over with and we don't have to answer too many more of those questions. It was a good qualifying lap for our GM Goodwrench Chevrolet. It should be a fun Busch race tonight and good tomorrow night. We've got two really good cars."

***

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DUPONT MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 16TH

"I just overdrove the DuPont Chevrolet in turn one there a little bit too much on the second lap and got up the race track. Considering that I'm pretty happy. My car has been decent today. I felt like in race conditions we were pretty good. Qualifying we were pretty good. Unfortunately I just overdrove it a little bit right there."

***

JOE NEMECHEK, NO. 01 U.S. ARMY MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 17TH

"Actually I thought we'd go a little bit quicker than that. I have to thank Ryan Pemberton (crew chief) and the whole U.S. Army crew. These guys never give up. They're tough. They're proud. They're strong. It's about team work here. We've had a tough year so far. It seems like we can't get any luck going our way. We've been caught up in an awful lot of crashes. There's been a lot of crazy things this year. We're just trying to get our season turned around. Hopefully that will be a top-10 starting spot depending on how much the track starts picking up here but a good run for us."

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 18TH

"It was really good. I was really happy with it in race trim. Hopefully we keep these clouds away here. The willpower of the fans will keep this rain away so we'll get the rest of qualifying in and get this Busch race in tonight."

***

J.J. YELEY, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES MONTE CARLO SS - QUALIFIED 34TH

"It wasn't too bad of a run. We weren't real spectacular in practice in our qualifying run in the Interstate Batteries Chevrolet. We made some changes. It was a lot better. We were just a little bit too free out there where I could really get to the throttle. Worst case scenario, it'll rain and we'll start 22nd but hopefully it holds off. Who knows where it will end up. I know it's a real long race and hopefully we'll be there at the end."

***

ROBBY GORDON, NO. 7 MENARDS MONTE CARLO - QUALIFIED 39TH

"I thought that lap was much faster," Gordon said. "I was pretty shocked when I got out of the car that we ended up where we did on the board, but I'm confident we'll run a good race tomorrow. I've won here before, and the car felt really good at the end of practice."
