JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger)
"That's the first lap I've run all day in qualifying trim. We took our best guess at it. We knew we were in the race. We had a bad draw, so there was really no reason to do qualifying stuff. We've come a long way. It hasn't shown yet, but it will. It seems like we're turning the corner and headed in the right direction. We've got a good racecar. We'll be good in the race. We've got a lot of good tracks coming up, and it'll be good for us."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger)
"We got it real good at the end of practice. It's a lot better than it was at the test here. We've got a lot to do on our short track program, and that's the best we could do."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger)
"We were a little off getting into the corners, but through the center and off it was really good. I'm looking forward to working on it tomorrow by making a lot of pit stops. Hopefully we can make it good enough to be there at the end. We've been struggling just a little bit, but hopefully we'll get it figured out. It'd be nice to win here again."
DAVID STREMME (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Charger)
"I just wanted to be smooth. We've got to qualify in. We just wanted to make sure we put a good lap together. I know we've got a good racecar. We had a really good test at Charlotte, and I'm proud of all my guys. I think things are starting to turn around for us."
SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger)
"We didn't get a chance to make a qualifying run in practice. We changed about eight things before qualifying, race trim ideas. We had no idea what it was going to be like in qualifying. We're a lot different than our teammates. We felt like we weren't good enough to be competitive for the pole. I don't know how it's going to shake out, but we're ready to race."
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
"This is the first time this year on a regular racetrack that we've had the impound, and our team really focused on the race setup. We had two race setups in it in practice, and we kind of married the two together. I think we'll have a good run with the Miller Lite Dodge. We've got to make the right decisions when to pit and get the two-tire and four-tire stuff right. It was a good run for us. The big thing with impounds is you don't want to qualify too good. Then your race setup will end up going away on you, so that should be a nice, solid spot for us."
BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger)
"This is a fun racetrack. It's exciting for the fans and drivers because of the multiple grooves. Of all the tracks you come to, this is really one you like to come to. That really wasn't a good qualifying lap. We were just too tight."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel My Circle Dodge Charger)
"I wish we had the pole. We made a couple of changes before qualifying, so that's pretty good. We did a couple of 30-lap runs in practice, and we feel like we halfway know what we're doing to get ready for the race."
*** KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Merchant's Tire Dodge Charger)
"We started 12th at Daytona, but that's the best we've been in qualifying all year. I hope we can finish better than we start."
