BICKLE OFF TO FAST START IN SECOND HALF OF SEASON

HARRISBURG, NC. (July 28, 1999) After an up and down first half of the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup season, Rich Bickle and the 10-10-345 Pontiac have picked up the pace in the first three races of the final stretch run. Based on the strength of an 18th-place finish at Daytona, a 14th at New Hampshire and a season-best seventh last weekend at Pocono, Bickle has totaled 376 points. That is 10th-best among drivers who have posted a Top-20 finish in the first three events of the second half of the season. "We knew it was going to take a little time to get this Tyler Jet Motorsports team headed in the right direction," said Bickle. "People tend to forget this team debuted exactly one year ago at Indianapolis. Since then, there has been a driver change and three crew chief changes. We've definitely had our growing pains, but thats to be expected in a first-year team." Bickle totaled a 22nd-place finishing average and a 32nd-place qualifying average in the first half of the 1999 Winston Cup campaign. The team also did not qualify for three of the first 16 events. Recently, the 10-10-345 bunch has been on a tear picking up 13 places (40th to 27th) in the team owner points over the last nine races. Bickle, who is currently 29th in the drivers point standings, attributes much of the teams success to the addition of new crew chief, James Ince. "James has done a heck of a job," said Bickle. "He came in a took the bull by the horns. He has us dialed in, there's no doubt about that. James been a huge addition. Everyone in the shop has been doing a great job. The results prove that. "We've also built some new cars and we went to the wind tunnel twice in the last month or so. When you take all of those factors and add them to the good things we were already doing, its easy to see why weve started the second half of the season with three strong runs."
