Rain delays start of Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup race

Inclement weather has plagued race day at Texas Motor Speedway.

Saturday night's Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway is under a weather delay due to persistent rain showers in the Fort Worth, Tex., area.

NASCAR's Air Titans remain on the track in an attempt to dry the track but the start of the Duck Commander 500 is likely to be delayed by at least an hour.

The race was scheduled to begin around 7:45 p.m. ET and is being shown on Fox. When the race resumes, pole-winner Car Edwards will lead the field to green.

Due to the rain showers, there will be a competition caution at or around Lap 25.
