This Week in Ford Racing

David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion, heads into this weekend's Auto Club 500 in Fontana, Calif., in sixth place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings. In four career starts at Auto Club Speedway, Ragan has never finished outside of the top 16.

WILL THIS WEEKEND'S RACE AT AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY BE A BETTER INDICATOR OF WHAT THE NO. 6 TEAM WILL HAVE THIS YEAR? "Yes, it will. Daytona is always a special and exciting weekend, but you're there for so long and you get tons of practice, so California is really the first normal race weekend experience. So what happens at California could certainly foreshadow what will go on at Las Vegas and some other races."

WERE THERE ANY CHANGES MADE TO THE NO. 6 TEAM DURING THE OFFSEASON? "No. We've got the same team, person for person, that we had. We had absolutely zero turnover on our No. 6 car."

THIS TEAM HAS GROWN SO MUCH FROM YEAR TO YEAR, SO THAT CONSISTENCY MUST BE COMFORTING FOR YOU. "Absolutely. Jimmy [Fennig, crew chief] has done a good job. We had a really young team the first year, and he's really coached and taught everybody a lot. And I feel like we've got one of the strongest teams in the garage. Everybody knows what their duties are, we've got great race cars, they build cars that last 500 and 600 miles, so I feel like we've got a pretty special group, and they certainly do an outstanding job at the race tracks and at the race shop preparing everything."

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS RACE TEAM AT AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY THIS WEEKEND? "The Roush Fenway group has always had a lot of success at California. We've always been a top-16 car out there, from my rookie season to last year, so I shouldn't expect anything any different, and I think we should be a little stronger. Hopefully, one of us will compete for the win and get a good points day."
