HAMPTON, GA - Weather threatened at the start of the Napa 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway; however, the field did get underway for 17 laps before showers started.

Rain has been the story of the weekend, washing out Winston Cup qualifying for the third time in the last four races. Owner points, placing all the championship contenders at the front of the starting grid, set the field.

The red flag waved halting the race at the end of the 26th lap. The cars are parked on pit road and covered. Kyle Petty is the current leader.

Weather radar looks bleak for not only the rest of the day, but through Wednesday of next week as remnants of hurricane Kenna fall upon the greater Atlanta area.

John Andretti, brought out the race first caution on lap 5, pounding the inside wall while running in 24th position. Andretti escaped injuries.
