Truex Looks to Rebound at Pocono

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 29, 2008) -- After finishing 24th in last week's Sprint Cup event in Indianapolis, Martin Truex Jr. hopes to bounce back at Pocono Raceway, site of Sunday's Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.

"All of the guys struggled with tires at Indy, but we seemed to struggle a little more than the others," Truex said. "We've got to put that behind us.

"Pocono is a track that I enjoy racing at. We've had some good runs there in the past and we definitely need a good one this weekend. The time to make the Chase is running out.

"Setup and horsepower are equally important at Pocono. Each of the three corners is different, so if your car is not setup properly you are going to struggle. Then again, you've got the long straight-aways so you need the horsepower. It's definitely a challenge, but its fun, too."

Pocono will be the second event for interim crew chief Mike Greci. Greci is filling in for Kevin Manion, who is currently serving a six-race suspension by NASCAR for infractions found on the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats car in practice at Daytona earlier this month.

"Mike and the guys are really working hard for me and I appreciate it," Truex continued. "I'd love to get the team a good finish on Sunday. I think it would do wonders for our program."

Truex is currently 17th in 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points, 216 points out of 12th.
