KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
"In my mind I just went to go do a nice smooth consistent lap and not shoot for the pole. And, sometimes that is better to do. When you are out there gunning for a pole and you don't have track conditions to do it you can end up losing quite a few spots. If we get the pole, that's great. We're just looking for a solid starting spot with our Miller Lite Dodge just so we can get those elusive five bonus laps for leading a lap on Sunday and it helps us with our pit strategy, as well.
"It was a good feeling lap. I worked pretty hard but didn't lose time when the car was sliding sideways or pushing a little bit. When you're loose and tight, I think that's the best you can get it. You're not just one loose or one tight. I really think it get backs to Penske's Jasper power. It always helps to that big power down the straightaways here."
RYAN NEWMAN (No.12 Alltel Dodge Charger)
"It was a good lap. I think I gave it up. I just didn't push quite hard enough in turn three. I was more worried about the care stepping out then I was pushing it fast. Nevertheless it was a good run. I think we will have a good car for Sunday."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Charger)
"For us that was a great lap. It felt like it was right where we wanted it. It was all we had today.
"I didn't know what we would pick up. I knew we would pick up some. We were sliding around a lot in practice. The guys did a good job. We were a little loose off the corner but we had lots of cornering speed. So, it fell good out there. If we can get the balance for the race we'll be happy.
"That's the best it has felt so far today. The track was really good. The track worked out perfect for us with the sun not being out and the little bit of rain. I think the number one pill was the best one out there."
SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger)
"We made some pretty wholesale changes at Evernham Motorsports a few weeks ago. I think last week we took a big step in the right direction. We were pretty fast in practice and pretty fast right now during qualifying. We have to get our way into the show. We can't really go all out and make a lot of changes and chase a lot of poles right now. We just have to make sure we're here on Sunday."
ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger)
"That was a decent lap and has us up near the front for the race. We spent most of today's practice time in race trim and have a baseline to work with in practice tomorrow. We continue to make progress with the '06 nose and package. Tomorrow's practice sessions will be very important for us as we try to make our car better."
