CHARLOTTE, NC (November 6, 2008) -- Earlier this season, Jim Beam and Robby Gordon Motorsports ran a special red, white, and blue paint scheme displaying the Operation Homefront logo in order to raise awareness for the non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance and morale to U.S. troops and their families. To celebrate Veterans Day, the No. 7 Dodge Charger will again feature this unique paint scheme at Phoenix International Raceway.
To further increase awareness for this great cause, Jim Beam and RGM have a special edition Jim Beam / Operation Homefront race car hood to Operation Homefront for auction, signed by Gordon. The autographed hood will be auctioned off on eBay starting November 4 with the auction closing November 11, Veterans Day, and all proceeds will go to Operation Homefront.
About Operation Homefront -- Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind during deployments and wounded warriors when they return home. Operation Homefront has 30 chapters serving 37 states and came to the rescue of 33,000 military families last year. They have approximately 4,500 volunteers nationwide. Comments on the Jim Beam / Operation Homefront Paint Scheme -- "When Jim Beam asked me about running the paint scheme again and donating the hood, I was 100 percent in. Veterans Day is a time to remember the commitments made by the men and women who have served this country, and I'm proud to join Jim Beam in supporting Operation Homefront and our nation's military families," said Gordon.
Thoughts on Phoenix -- "To prepare for this weekend, we made a pit stop at Irwindale Speedway in California. We are bringing a brand new car to the track this weekend, so we wanted to test it down before we unload on Friday. We had a great test and are really looking forward to this weekend's race," commented Gordon. "I really like coming to Phoenix; the racing is always exciting here since it is one of the fastest mile tracks in the world. I think that the No. 7 Jim Beam / Operation Homefront Dodge will have a great weekend."
Appearances -- Robby will be making many appearances around the track this weekend. On behalf of Jim Beam, he will appear at Bev Mo on Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bev Mo is located at 15405 W. McDowell Goodyear, AZ 85338. Immediately following the Jim Beam appearance, he will head to the Speed Cantina located on the PIR grounds. On Sunday, he will be at his merchandise trailer on Sunday at 10 a.m. signing autographs for his fans.
