SADLER AIMS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT TOP-10 AT PIR
CHARLOTTE, NC (November 9, 2005) -- M&M'S® Driver Elliott Sadler experienced a strong start to his 2005 season with nine top-10's in his first 16 starts. It was the second half that proved to be tough on Sadler and his #38 RYR Team. Beginning with the second stop at Daytona in July, it would be eleven races before Sadler would again break into single digit finishes.
But since narrowly missing the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup, Sadler and his team have been back on track posting three top-10 finishes in his last seven starts. Perhaps even more impressive is Sadler's qualifying efforts in the last six races where he boasts a starting average of fourth aided by two poles and a second and third place qualifying effort.
With two races remaining in the 2005 season, Sadler has the opportunity to tie the number of top-10 finishes, 14, posted during his breakout season in 2005. First they need to post #13 this weekend as they return to Phoenix International Raceway.
Sadler Quotes-- "I'm really excited to come back to Phoenix again. We had a really good car here last fall but we had a cut tire that ended our chances pretty early. This spring I think was one of my best races here. We finished 11th after starting pretty far back and really adjusted on our car all night to get it up towards the front."
"This weekend we're planning on bringing back the same car I race at New Hampshire in July. It's an absolutely awesome car -- one of my favorites at the shop. This car was so good at New Hampshire. We didn't get a good finish because we got mixed up in a wreck that day but the guys at the shop put it back together and I'm really excited to see how it works out here at Phoenix."
"With two races to go, we're all starting to get a little tired, maybe ready for a break during the off-season but I have to give a lot of credit to my M&M'S Team. They've not slowed down at all during these last races. In fact, I think our pit crew has really just hit their peak. They've been awesome all season but these last four or five races they have been unbelievable on pit road. I think they picked me up about 10 or 15 spots last week at Texas. If they can do that again here at Phoenix, I think we'll be in good shape."
