Concord, NC--Dodge Motorsports announced this morning that beginning in 2003 Penske Racing, drivers Rusty Wallace and Ryan Newman, will switch to Dodge Intrepids. Penske's deal with Dodge is a three year commitment.

"It will evaluate our team for the future. It's a definite commitment to go forward. It's the right place to be for the future of us," commented car owner Roger Penske.

Wallace, a longtime veteran of the Winston Cup Series, switched manufacturers from Pontiac to Ford in the early nineties after winning the Championship in 1989. "I've been through model changes with the Pontiac to Ford and now to Dodge. I've won in all the makes except Dodge so far. I'm real excited about that."

Newman on the other hand, was fairly new to Ford. He joined Penske in 2001 while running select events in ARCA, Busch and Cup. Newman expressed his excitement in the switch and added his own comical twist on the announcement. "I always wondered with you Dodge people. You can drive down the road and look in the mirror and you see a sign that says Dodge. You're like, 'which way do I go?' If a guy passes and you follow him, it says Ram. So what do you do? Do you hit him or try to miss him?"
