The end is in sight for the investigation surrounding the tragic death of Kevin Ward Jr.
The police department has revealed to Fox Sports that they are in the closing stages of the investigation, although they have not given an official date of completion yet.
It is believed that Stewart, who has not raced since the tragedy, will not face any criminal charges, but the Sheriff isn't saying anything one way or the other. He could certainly be forced into a civil case by the Ward family, who has shown no sympathy for the NASCAR driver.
The three-time Sprint Cup champion has not spoken publicly since the incident and it is unknown when he will step back out into the spotlight. Close friends of Tony such as Kenny Wallace and Kevin Harvick have not been in contact with him since the accident.
Kevin Ward Jr. was laid to rest on August 14th.
