Daytona Beach, Fl. - 2002 Rookie-of-the-Year, Ryan Newman turned the fastest lap during the morning session of Daytona testing, clocking in at 183.408 mph in the Penske #12 Dodge.

This week marks the second round of test by the Winston Cup teams, and Newman's time was .424 seconds faster than Mike Skinner's, who had the best morning test last week. Newman's time was not fast enough, however, to top Mike Wallace's 184.053 mph, which was the best speed overall in the initial 3-day test.

Former CART star Christian Fittipaldi landed an impressive second fastest on the speed chart turning a lap of 182.685 driving the #33 Chevrolet for Andy Petree Racing.

Rounding out the top five were Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty, and Jeff Green.

Notably, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was 10th fastest and Jeff Gordon was 15th.
