Michael Waltrip Racing announced on Tuesday that they have pegged David Reutimann to man the helm of the third Toyota NASCAR Nextel Cup series entry for MWR in 2007. Reutimann will pilot the No. 00 Toyota Camry, sponsored by Burger King/Domino's Pizza.

"In my wildest dreams I couldn't come up with a scenario that would have put me driving a '00,' car," Reutimann said. "I always thought how cool it would be to drive a car with my family number in the top series in the world, but what are the chances that would happen. It's right here in front of me."

Reutimann made his Cup Series debut with MWR last season at Charlotte where he started 26th and finished 22nd. He has one NASCAR win which came in the Nashville Superspeedway Craftsman Truck Series race in 2005, driving for Darrell Waltrip Motorsports.

In 2004, his first season with DWM, Reutimann earned the Truck series Raybestos Rookie of the Year, grabbing his first career pole at Atlanta Motor Speedway in only his second NCTS start.

Besides racing in the Cup series, will also drive the No. 99 car in the Busch series for MWR.

"I have a two-time Daytona 500 winner [Waltrip] and a former Cup Series champion [Jarrett] to get advice from," commented Reutimann. "I feel like Dale and Michael are two of the best guys in the business to go talk to about things on and off the racetrack. I still have Darrell [Waltrip] I can go to who has been there for me many times.

I'll get their advice and look to all of them for their leadership. They are all invaluable people and I'm looking forward to working with them. I have a lot to learn and they have a lot to teach."

Reutimann is a third-generation driver who followed in the footsteps of his iconic father Emil "Buzzie" Reutimann. He started his path to reach the NASCAR ranks like his dad, competing at dirt and paved tracks. He ran in the NASCAR Elite Division Southeast Series for five years before moving to the NASCAR ranks.

"My grandfather, my father, my uncle and my cousins have all raced a car with the '00' number. It's our family number and if you're a Reutimann that's the number you race. I can't describe it. It's just such a great feeling. It's surreal and a thrill not only for me, but for my entire family," he said.

The new driver for MWR brings with him a wealth of experience from both the Busch and Truck series. He has competed in the Busch Series on a limited basis since 2002 but has enjoyed most of his success in the Truck series over the last few years, driving for Michael Waltrip's brother Darrell.

He has made 28 career Busch starts grabbing two top-fives and seven top-10's. He has 70 Truck Series starts with six poles, one win, 16 top-fives and 34 top-10's.

Currently, Reutimann stands third in the 2006 points, 255 adrift of Todd Bodine as he chases for not only his first NASCAR championship, but still searching for a victory this season.
