Morgan-McClure Motorsports has made personnel changes in an effort to restructure its organization and keep pace with the winning competition. The race team, which has 14 NASCAR Winston Cup wins to its credit, lacks the top-notch performance it has become accustomed to in the past decade.

Larry McClure, owner of the No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Monte Carlo, and crew chief David Ifft, decided to part ways following the Kmart 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. Ifft, who joined the team last November following a long absence from Winston Cup, will return home to spend quality time with his family.

Although no permanent replacement for a crew chief has been named, Scott Eggleston will travel with the team to Road Atlanta for a test session on Tuesday and Wednesday. Eggleston will accompany the team to Pocono for the 15th race of the year. Prior to beginning the 2001 season with DEI, 39 year-old Eggleston worked with Team SABCO.

Larry McClure, owner of the No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Monte Carlo:

"The performance of Morgan-McClure Motorsports has been in a rut for a while. I have an obligation to those who are dedicated to this race team to get it back into winning form. Many teams in the garage go through personnel changes and down periods.

"For some reason or another, our finishes have not reflected the caliber of team that we are capable of being. I am not a car owner searching for an elusive first win in the elite series. I know what it is like to win. We have visited victory lane 14 times. Once success has been tasted that many times, you know you are capable of returning to it.

"We have replaced a jackman in the past week. We will tryout some new race cars in the weeks to come. Now we will search for a crew chief. I am going to restructure the team until it is capable of winning again. Chemistry in this sport is more important than people might believe. Once the right combination is found, success will follow."

Scott Eggleston:

"I have known and respected Larry McClure for a long time. We have had the opportunity to communicate several times through the years. I look forward to working with Morgan-McClure this week at Road Atlanta and in Pocono.

"I am just taking things one day at a time. We will go to Pocono and see what transpires. If things go okay there, then maybe we will go to the next race together. I am in no rush to make a commitment.

"The one thing I have learned about this business is you never know what is going to happen next. The right communication and chemistry combination have to be present for a team to win races. We will see how we mix at Morgan-McClure."
