Bobby Hamilton, Jr., driver of the No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Monte Carlo, completed his first run in a Winston Cup car at Phoenix International Raceway. In his 8th NASCAR Winston Cup Series start, Hamilton, Jr., fought a loose race car for most of the race.

Scott Eggleston, crew chief for the Morgan-McClure Motorsports entry, and the pit crew made spring rubber changes, tire pressure changes and wedge adjustments throughout the day to improve the handling of the car.

On lap 289, the No. 8 Monte Carlo slowed to pit and cut across in front of Hamilton, Jr. With nowhere to go, the No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Chevy made contact, bending the front end of the hood into the radiator. The car had to retire to the garage with an overheating engine on lap 291.

Bobby Hamilton, Jr., will compete in the Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 at Rockingham for the first time. It will be his 9th career Winston Cup Series start.
