NASCAR Testing Rained Out
Teams will try again tomorrow

Watkins Glen, NY (July 26, 2004) - A light rain washed out the first day of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series testing at Watkins Glen International, leaving 14 teams with hopes of sunshine for tomorrow's final day of testing. With tomorrow's forecast calling for more rain, few teams opted to head home early and try again next week. Track officials have been able to schedule additional NASCAR testing time around existing track rental customers on Monday, August 2 from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tomorrow's session, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and the newly scheduled Monday session will be open to the public.

Drivers that arrived at the historic road course today included defending race champion Robby Gordon, last year's second-place finisher Scott Pruett, road course aces Boris Said and Ron Fellows, veterans Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett and Michael Waltrip and rookie sensations Kasey Kahne, Brian Vickers, Brendan Gaughan, Scott Wimmer and Scott Riggs. German Klaus Graf, who competed earlier this year at Infineon Raceway, was also on hand. Young guns Jamie McMurray and Casey Mears are scheduled to test on Tuesday.

Fans who have purchased tickets for the SIRIUS at The Glen, August 12-15, will be admitted free of charge again tomorrow. Fans should present their SIRIUS at The Glen tickets at the gate to gain free admission or pick-up a voucher at the ticket office if they have not received their event tickets. All other spectators can take in the action for only $5.00 at the gate. Gate 4 will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

New York State's largest weekend spectator sporting event returns August 12-15 with the NEXTEL Cup Series taking center stage on Sunday in the much-anticipated SIRIUS at The Glen. Support races include the Mohegan Sun 150 presented by Pepsi NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series on Saturday and the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series' theglen.com 200 on Friday night. NEXTEL Cup Series drivers take their shot at the pole during P&C Foods Qualifying Day on Friday, August 13th. Tickets start at only $50.
