NASCAR Fans E-mail List
I got a little catching up to do in this mailing so bare with me if you'd heard some of this news and it seems old. Also I still intend on getting results out in just a moment with the points standings included. I'm had a few critical letters of puncuation and grammar, along with a few spelling. I apologize for it and I'll try to give the mailings a quick proof read. I'm really under the gun to try and get the news out asap and with the schedule I've been keeping lately it is usually fast and sometimes the grammar and spelling fall off. Again I apologize.
New Paint Schemes
Terry Labonte will run a Tony the Tiger paint scheme this year. It will be blue with a logo of Tony in a couple places on the car. The numbers are red. It is a really nice scheme. We have already mentioned Chad Little's paint scheme for the Brickyard. It will be basically the same design as his regular car with the colors changing to black and gold. Jeff Green will have a paint scheme change, (not sure if it is permanant) to a white car with new cartoon graphics on the car. One is Droopy and he is holding a sign that says "Slow Down please!", very cute.
Silly Season updates
Bobby Hillin is out and offically replaced with Morgan Shephard. The Richard Jackson team that he left recently signed R&L carriers for the remainder of the year. The will reportedly go with a Jerry Nadeau. Nadeau has run selected Busch Series and ARCA races the past several seasons.
Wilkesboro Busch Race
Bob Bahre who owns NASCAR's Loudon, N.H., track and half of North Wilkesboro Speedway, says he has heard no more from Bruton Smith or Humpy Wheeler about their proposed charity Grand National race at North Wilkesboro. So he says he's writing it off as a publicity stunt.
Bill France and Homested
Bill France is on the verge of signing a management or ownership sharing agreement with the owners of the Homestead, Fla., track, according to NASCAR sources. Those sources say that France has had his accountants checking out the track for several months. France is also looking for a new Chicago area site for a proposed superspeedway. The DuPage Airport option is apparently dead. And France has also been pushing Kansas City officials to consider various plans for a new superspeedway there. . . .
