BALANCE ISSUE IMPAIRS MARLIN'S RUN IN MICHIGAN

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 18, 2006)-- Sterling Marlin posted a 24th-place finish in Sunday's rain-shortened 3M Performance 400 here at Michigan International Speedway.

The NEXTEL Cup race was originally scheduled for 200-laps and 400-miles, but was red-flagged for the day due to rain at the completion of Lap 129. Bad weather brought out the caution for a total of three times throughout the afternoon.

"We never found the right combination for our No. 14 Chevrolet," explained Marlin, who started the event 26th. "During the first run the car felt great and we could really pass people on the high side. After that we'd get tight, then loose-- it just never felt that way again. We never found the right balance."

Marlin hopes the team's trip to Infineon Raceway for next weekend's Nextel Cup event will provide a different result.

"Next up for us is Sonoma," said Marlin. "Hopefully we can go out there and collect a good finish. No one on this team is giving up -- that's for sure."

That event will be broadcast live on FOX, Sunday, June 25 at 3 p.m. ET, Noon PT.
