Mobil 1 Team News and Notes of Interest

* Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, captured his third top-10 finish in seven races with a 10th-place showing last weekend at Pocono Raceway. As a result, he moved up three positions in the driver standings to the 23rd spot. Hornish has advanced seven positions in the standings in the past two weeks and now sits just 63 points outside of 20th place.

* Hornish, hailing from nearby Defiance, Ohio, considers Michigan International Speedway is home track. Last June, Hornish led a NASCAR Cup Series race for the first time under green flag conditions at the two-mile D-shaped oval.

* Hornish will be on hand to sign autographs at the Penske Racing souvenir trailer at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, June 14 from 9:45 -- 10:45 a.m. EDT.

Sam Hornish Jr. on Michigan International Speedway

"Michigan International Speedway is a place I've always loved racing at in any type of car and it's one of Roger's (Penske) old tracks. We led there legitimately last year for the first time and it was an exciting race for this Mobil 1 team.

"Michigan is like Charlotte in that you have a lot of lines you can run -- but for the complete opposite reason: Michigan is a very low-grip surface. Very high-grip or very low-grip tracks mean you can find the best place for your car to work and get the best out it. Plus, Michigan is so wide, so there's even more choice of line. We are all looking forward to putting on a good show in front of my home crowd on Sunday."

Crew Chief Travis Geisler on Michigan International Speedway

"Michigan International Speedway produces some really good racing because the field can run three- and four-wide. The on-track action is always exciting and this Mobil 1 team is really looking forward to heading back to Michigan this weekend and continuing the forward momentum we have built over the past couple of months. There is also an element of pride this weekend with the track being so close to Sam's hometown. We hope to bring home another strong finish for the fans on Sunday."
