Brooklyn, Mich. - Three-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon heads to Michigan Speedway this weekend looking for more of the same. In 14 starts at the two-mile oval, Gordon has driven his DuPont Chevrolet to one win, 11 top-5's and 12 top-10's for an average finish of 4.5, and has completed 99.9 percent of those laps. "Michigan is definitely a good track for us," said Gordon. "We've always run well and finished well here and we look forward to Sunday's race." Gordon and his No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports team have been challenged this season with having to adapt to new team members and a new Monte Carlo. In addition, Goodyear has introduced tires this season that have varied from what they have raced in the past. These challenges have Gordon's DuPont team working hard to figure out the new chassis and how they relate to tires while assuring good team communication. They have achieved one win, one pole and 10th-place in the Winston Cup Series points standings. "We've found that this year we don't know what to expect when we unload at the track. We know that we need to do better to get the car to handle better. "And although we've been successful at Michigan, we've realized that this year we can't necessarily do the same things we've done in the past. The competition is tough and we have to do things a little bit differently to stay competitive. "We're fairly confident and feel pretty good about Michigan but until we see what we've got here, we won't know what we'll need to do." A finish like they usually have will do.
