2007 Pole Winner: Jeff Gordon, DuPont Chevrolet, 189.026 mph, 38.090 seconds.

2007 Race Winner: Kurt Busch, Miller Lite Dodge, 186.577 mph, 2 hours, 37 minutes, 45 seconds.

2007 Race Recap: Kurt Busch took the lead with 30 laps remaining and held off the remainder of the field to win the 3M Performance 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on August 21, 2007, two days after its originally scheduled start had been deterred by constant rain (Aug 19). It was the first time a NASCAR Sprint Cup race had been rained out at MIS since August of 1977. It was also the first time in the modern era (since 1972) that a NASCAR Cup race had been postponed two consecutive days because of bad weather. For Busch, it was the second victory in the last three Sprint Cup races. Busch, who also won at the two-mile oval in 2003, finished almost a half second ahead of Martin Truex, Jr., who had to start at the back of the 43-car field after his team was forced to make an engine change following Happy Hour the previous Saturday. The race started under yellow and was red-flagged after 10 laps because of thick fog that hampered race officials and team spotters from seeing the cars on the backstretch. The race resumed 32 minutes later with the green flag finally waving at 11 a.m., one hour after the scheduled starting time.

CARFAX 250 2008 FACT SHEET

What: CARFAX 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series Race (25th event on the 35-race 2008 NNS schedule)

When: Saturday, August 16

Where: Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, Michigan.

Television: Live on ESPN2 -- 3 p.m.

2007 Pole Winner: Greg Biffle, 3M Ford, 186.54 mph (MIS track record)

2007 Race Winner: Denny Hamlin, Rockwell Automation Chevrolet, 156.467 mph, 1 hour, 35 minutes, 52 seconds.

2007 Race Recap: Denny Hamlin managed to overcome damage to his Chevrolet during Friday practice and went on to win the CARFAX 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series at Michigan International Speedway on August 18, 2007. Hamlin had so much leeway in winning his second Nationwide Series race of 2007 that he jokingly radioed to his crew as he came out of the fourth turn to take the checkered flag and said he was running out of gas. You can do that when you lead the final 39 laps of a 125-lap race and win by almost seven seconds over your nearest competitor, who, in Hamlin's case, was Matt Kenseth. Hamlin's margin of victory -6.998 seconds- was a Nationwide Series track record for greatest margin of victory. The previous record was held by Mark Martin, who took the checkered flag 6.91 seconds in front of Terry Labonte in 1995.

Tickets: Reserved seats are available for the CARFAX 250 by calling the Michigan International Speedway ticket office at 1-800-354-1010 or by going online at www.MISpeedway.com. All seats are just $50 and children 12 and under are admitted free.
