Detroit Lions rookie Ndamukong Suh to be honorary official for Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 9, 2010) -- Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 at Michigan International Speedway is attracting some of Detroit's biggest sports stars.

Detroit Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom will serve as the honorary pace car driver for the race. The longtime Red Wing defenseman will pace the 43-car field in the official 2010 Ford Mustang GT pace car for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400, a job usually held by NASCAR's Brett Bodine. This will be Lidstrom's first visit to MIS, and he will also take part in pre-race ceremonies and the drivers' meeting prior to the race.

Additionally, Ndamukong Suh, the Detroit Lions' first-round draft pick in 2010, will be on hand serving as an honorary official for the race. Suh, who is expected to be an immediate impact player for the Lions this fall, was recently at the Indianapolis 500 and will also be making his first visit to the Irish Hills track on Sunday to participate in pre-race ceremonies. At MIS, he'll likely keep an eye on how the Ford teams are doing.

"We are pleased Nicklas Lidstrom and Ndamukong Suh will be here on Sunday for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400," track President Roger Curtis said. "Lidstrom is a household name in Detroit and I have a good feeling that Suh will be making quite a name for himself in Detroit as well when the football season begins this fall. To have these two great athletes from our professional Detroit sports teams come out shows us how much our home teams support the speedway and NASCAR."

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It's the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.

MIS tickets are on sale. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tickets for Sunday's Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 start as low as $25. Visit MISpeedway.com or call the MIS ticket hotline at 800-354-1010 today.
