RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger)
"We had about a seventh-place car all day, and if the race had been one lap longer we would have been right there. I think we learned some things we can apply to the future here. Obviously those guys got pretty lucky on fuel. That's part of racing. I can't say we haven't done it in the past. It's definitely not a good thing to be on this end of it. We're eighth in the points, and I think we've got a 120 back to 11th. We still want to be first, but if we can keep our head above water we'll still be breathing. We've got Bristol next week, and that's always a place that can make it or break it."
RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
"That was pretty frustrating, but I think we'll be OK in the points when it all shakes out. We had about six or seven beat there on fuel mileage. We came up through the field and was about to go into 10th a third of the way through the race, but all those hot dog wrappers got us. The water temp shot up to 250, and we had to pit. When we did, the 01 hit the wall and the caution came out. Then later we got blocked in the pits by the 16 car. We got back up toward the front and would have had in the top 10 if not for more bad luck."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger)
"We started out real good. We got real tight into the center and couldn't get it out. We had a left rear shock break and put a different one on. It didn't help it. We ran out of gas. We just didn't have a good day. I thought we were going to have a great day the way it started. Our cars aren't bad. This is our Indy car. It was the best car I've ever had at Indy. Today it started the race pretty good, but it wasn't like it was at Indy. We're ready for Bristol, and congratulations to Jeremy Mayfield for winning today. It's pretty neat that the two Evernham Motorsports Dodge Chargers have the two wins for Dodge this season."
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 91 Auto Value/Bumper-to-Bumper Dodge Charger)
"We weren't bad on the last run, but we saved a lot of gas. That was about the only option we had. That's what we needed to do. The guys really worked on the balance of the car all race. Chris Andrews made a great call in the pits, and it paid off."
