"We got Bill in the top 10 and we got Casey some experience. We've got to keep on doing that. The Dodges were good in the race, and Sterling had a shot at winning. I was pulling hard to see that happen. I feel that it's right around the corner. We did what we needed to today, and Sterling almost got a win. It was a good day."
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"I'm glad to finish anywhere, but a top 10 finish is always a good finish. I never could get handling right today. We had to work on the tires a lot. Some of those guys were just better than I was. We'll just have to work on it and go on next week. We picked up a few spots in the standings (three), and we've got a lot of racing left this season."
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We changed all the setups this morning, and we just couldn't get it. We were just off. We worked hard all day to make up spots. We were loose in and loose out, and that made it pretty tough. But we stayed in there and finished the race and learned a lot about another track. We tested here, but the weather was awful when we tested, so we learned a lot more about it today and hopefully we'll be better when we come back in August."
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We gained a lot on the car. We started out as junk on Friday and got it pretty good toward the end today. If we had lasted, we would have been in good shape. Sitting on the truck before the race is over isn't doing us much good. That was the best my car had been toward the end today when the motor started tightening up."
JASON LEFFLER (No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We had a bad car in the beginning and turned it around. We kept making adjustments on it and got it going good. We just couldn't get a handle on it all weekend. About halfway through the race we got it fixed up. We found a groove we liked, a high groove. Everything worked out. We need to qualify a little better and get up front. It looked like it might be a Dodge day today. I didn't see much of it back there where I was, but Sterling had another good run, and that's encouraging for us. What's good for the team is good for all of us. We came home with a decent finish. The groove widened out, and I got more laps. We'll feel real good about coming back here next time."
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The car was good all day, but the motor was off just a little bit. It seemed like everybody drove by me on that last restart. We finished eighth, but we had a better car than that."
DOUG RANDOLPH (Crew chief No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge)
"We thought we could get a top five out of it today, and we didn't have a low enough gear in there. That made us a one dimensional car. We could pass on the high side, but any time we went low to pass, we'd bog down and lose our momentum. At the end of the race on those two restarts, it really hurt him. Without those last two cautions, I think we would have easily finished third or fourth. That's the nature of the business. We need that top five to get over the hump. I thought we were going to get it today, but it just didn't work out for us. We've got a good car to take from Pocono, and we'll take it from there."
