Jamie McMurray led at the break being followed by Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch. Leading 12 laps, Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the most laps but he resided in 12th going into the break.
Waltrip, Menard and Ragan are out of the race
Nine laps into the race a fiery accident involving nine cars took place in turn two. It started when David Ragan and Paul Menard got together while running in a large pack. Seven more cars were immediately drawn into the fray. The others were Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Burton, Michael Waltrip and Jeff Gordon.
The cars of Waltrip, Menard and Ragan were eliminated from competition, and the others stopped multiple times to make minor repairs. A 10-minute break after 25 laps allowed teams to make adjustments before running the final 50 laps.
