STACY COMPTON, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (starting 16th):

WITH MARTINSVILLE BEING YOUR HOME TRACK, HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR YOU TO RACE HERE AND RACE WELL HERE?

"It's important every week now. I think this team is on the verge of turning the corner. We ran awfully good at Bristol, but got caught up in a wreck and had a pretty good weekend last week at Texas, so I feel like this team is turning the corner. We've still got a lot of work to do. It's important to run good every week now. We need to get ourselves out of this hole we're in in points. If we can just continue to run like we have been, it's going to be good.

"It always feels pretty good to come here. We were a little concerned with qualifying yesterday, but we got a good lap in and are starting middle of the pack - a little bit better. That will help. That will be a lot better than starting back around 40th.

"I think we can have a good car. We went into race mode yesterday morning. We worked on the race setup for about the first hour and a half, and then went into qualifying mode for about the last 30 minutes and everything worked out pretty good. If we can have a little luck, I think we can be good."

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE DARRELL WALTRIP PRACTICING YOUR CAR TODAY?

"I worked with DW a couple times last year and he is just a class act. It's a pretty neat deal. Who better to put in the car? He knows how to get around this place. And one thing about it, you don't have to worry about him trying to steal your job.

"I think it's a good idea. I'm glad we've got somebody of his caliber to go out and shake the car down. It's a pretty neat deal."
