MARTIN TRUEX, JR., NO. 1 VASELINE MEN BODY LOTION IMPALA SS, QUALIFIED 3RD:

HOW WAS YOUR QUALIFYING LAP?

"We had a good practice today, actually it started out kind of bad. We had a little bit of a skip in the engine and lost about 10 minutes of practice and then with it being an hour, it went by quick and it was short. We had a good, productive 50 minutes or so and we worked on race trim most of the day. We did one qualifying run right there at the end and it wasn't really good so we just took a shot in the dark for qualifying and it worked good. Bono (Kevin Manion, crew chief) did a good job, made good adjustments and it was a good run. We started up front here one other time, but we didn't have a great race car to run so hopefully this weekend we'll start there and stay there. So far it's been a good weekend."

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY? HOW DO YOU GET TO THE INSIDE LANE IF YOU HAVE TO START ON THE OUTSIDE?

"It's going to be really tough -- double-file starts here. Anytime you're on the outside here, it's tough. You really just have to wait till you can get back in line. There's nothing you can do. You can't force your way in if there's no hole, you'll just get yourself spun out. You just have to be patient and hope that the next time around you'll get the proper lane. It seems like every weekend there's times throughout the race when you get in a bad lane or not where you want to be and you go backwards. You just have to be patient and that the next time around it works out in your favor."

WILL YOU BE TIRE TESTING WITH YOUR NEW TEAM AFTER TALLADEGA?

"I don't believe so. I don't think before the end of the season. I would imagine probably January 1 at about eight in the morning, I will be doing something. We'll just have to wait and see."

DOES ANYONE TRY TO HAMPER PIT STOPS OF OTHER TEAMS LIKE THEY USED TO?

"It depends, Joey (Logano) backed over both my right-front guys last week. It costs me about 15 spots. But no, not really, I think everybody is fair. It's so close, I mean, guys make mistakes a lot and things happen like a tire rolling out, but as far as guys doing it on purpose, I haven't been involved in any of it or seen any of it."
