MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Oct. 18, 2006)-- A strong run in last weekend's NEXTEL Cup event at Lowe's Motor Speedway has Sterling Marlin feeling optimistic about the remainder of the 2006 season.

With the recent addition of crew chief Richard "Slugger" Labbe to the No. 14 MB2 roster, heads are high as the Ginn Clubs & Resorts team heads into the homestretch of the season.

"The finish at Lowe's felt great, even though we obviously want to win races more than anything," said Marlin, who finished 11th in the event. "But to win races you have to run up front, so it's a step in the right direction."

"Since Slugger has come on board things have started to click," Marlin added. "It feels good to be competitive and I'm excited about the rest of the season, especially somewhere like Martinsville."

The No. 14 team will visit the .526-mile Martinsville Speedway this weekend where Marlin posted a sixth-place start and a 14th-place finish in the spring. This will be the veteran driver's 41st start at the short-track.

"I predict a good result for this Ginn team at Martinsville," said Labbe. "Sterling's good on short tracks and we're taking a great No. 14 Chevy.

"The guys on the team have worked hard to get better each week. We've improved a ton over the last month and I think it's going to continue. Our goal has been to be competitive week in and week out and we're making good strides toward that."
